Mink Potential visits The Wall

Stopping artists from hitting brick walls by Tracey Lien

22-01-2009

My dream of becoming a full time artist never came to fruition because one day I woke up, and realised that I would be poor and emaciated for the rest of my le. Seeing that I was already poor and emaciated at the time, I didn't want to encourage that, so nowadays, I just paint for fun.

Mink Potential loves Extra Cheeese

What's Cooking? Extra Cheeese!

22-01-2009

On a good day, my pizza box goes into the recycling bin. On a bad day, out the window and into some landfill (neighbour's backyard). Clearly, I am not the most innovative of all people, nor am I the most environmentally conscious, which is why I am glad that Extra Cheeese is there to do for us what we are so unwilling to do for the ourselves (and the rest of the world): create masterly aesthetic artworks that blow audiences out of the water, whilst doing something useful with those damn pizza boxes.

12x12 Exhibition

by Tracey Lien

22-01-2009
To the untrained eye, aMBUSH gallery has the exterior of an abandoned warehouse, tucked away in the district of Waterloo. 22-01-2009

“And turn right at the next street and it should be there” Tristan, Mink Magazine’s Art Director said. “Do you think that could be it?” I pointed and said grinning at Tristan. In front of us, a little to the right, was a building with huge letters sprawled across the…

A rather bright BLAC Friday

by Tracey Lien

21-04-2008

There are many reasons why people find art galleries and the concept of 'fine art' intimidating. For some, the galleries themselves can come across as being too posh and sterile, the artworks costing more than limbs, and the exhibitions only coming by so often that we feel that they're too precious to be enjoyed. BLAC Friday challenges all of this.
